Did Team USA Just Blow Its Shot at Olympic Gold by Beating Canada?
By LaxAnon | Asking the Questions Nobody Asked For
First off, congratulations to Team USA on winning the Pan-American Sixes Championship. Huge accomplishment. Very patriotic. Bald eagles everywhere.
But I have one question.
Did we just make the biggest tactical mistake in American lacrosse history?
Hear me out.
The 2028 Olympics are in Los Angeles. On American soil. Our house. Our rules. And instead of playing the long game, Team USA decided to go out there and beat Canada TWO YEARS before the Olympics.
Why?
You think Canada is just gonna forget about that? Absolutely not. These people have free healthcare and six months of winter. They’ve got nothing but time to sit around and plot revenge.
We had a golden opportunity to lose this tournament, let Canada get comfortable, maybe convince them they’re the superior lacrosse nation, and then absolutely pants them in Los Angeles in 2028.
It’s called strategy. Look it up.
Instead, we just handed Canada two years of bulletin-board material. Every Canadian lacrosse player is probably in a frozen barn right now doing wall ball and muttering “2028” under his breath.
And for what? A trophy in 2026?
This is chess, not checkers. Except apparently Team USA is playing checkers. And winning. Which is actually the problem.
The real question: Did USA Lacrosse just sacrifice Olympic gold for a championship nobody was going to remember in two years?
I’m not saying we should’ve thrown the game.
I’m saying we should’ve considered the geopolitical ramifications of winning it.
USA. USA. USA.
